Trek to Gambier Lake

  • Gambier Island Conservancy 1005 West Bay Road Gambier Island, B.C. V0N 1V0 (map)

Our Annual fundraising Hike is very close!

We're hoping to have people from all sides of the island, meet at Gambier Lake.
Gather your friends and neighbours for the hike, or ask them to sponsor you for the event! The descriptions below are rough guides, but make sure you’re ready for a challenging hike!
There are three routes and starting points for the hike. Please see our trail map for exact locations.

1) Maple Trail route- beginning at the start of the Mountain Road trail on West Bay Rd. A relatively slow climb winding through old-growth forest beside the Whispering Creek ravine for 45 minutes followed by a steep drop into the Mannion Creek ravine to meet the main Lake trail. It's no more than hour and a half to the Lake from there, half uphill and half downhill,

2) Ekins Point route- adjacent to Ekins Point Rd. on Gambier's northerly coast. A steady relatively steep uphill climb on rock much of the way, about 90 minutes,

3) Lost Lake route- for Sea Ranch and Brigade Bay hikers. The hike begins where the Brigade Bay trail meets the Camp Artaban trail. A slight uphill half the way then relatively flat for a while with a short climb up to the Lake. Allow about two hours.

The Fundraising Part…
Any amounts participants raise will be used by the Conservancy to preserve and maintain the biological diversity of the Island through our Conservation Initiatives. Participant (and other!) donations would be greatly appreciated.
Donate or raise $50.00 or more and we have a commorative Tshirt for you.
We’re very fortunate and grateful to be sponsored in this event by Cassels, Brocks and Blackwell LLP
