New signposts in Halkett Bay Marine Park

On 1 August 2021, six youth volunteers and their leader, Alex Arboledo from Ocean Bridge, installed four signposts along the main north-south trail through the Halkett Bay Marine Provincial Park. Peter Scholefield brought all of the necessary supplies to Camp Fircom, where the Ocean Bridge group were staying. Peter led the volunteers on a hike into the park with the volunteers carrying the posts and supplies. Two of the signposts were installed near the north and south boundaries of the park. One critical location for a signpost, as shown in the photo, was at the junction of the trail coming up from the Marine Park dock. The 4th signpost was installed at the junction of the trail leading to the Halkett Viewing Bluffs.

The signpost materials were purchased through a grant from BC Parks and this post installation will be followed up by attaching trail map signs to the posts. Additional funds provided by the BC Park's grant will be used to have trail map signs made."
