Gambier Lake Trail

Difficulty: Medium

About: This trail starts from the public dock at New Brighton, following a public roads through private property that soon ends as you enter public lands. There are both hills and flatter spots and the trail passes through a commercial woodlot before reaching the junction with the trail to Muskeg Lake. Thereafter the trail passes by Lillypad Lake. The final decent to Gambier Lake is steep and can be slippery. There is also a trail to the lake from the north and from Douglas Bay to the east but no public access points from the coastline to these trails.

Time: 1.5 for experienced to 2.5 hours for walkers

Markers: Green

Remember - stay on the trail, do not enter private property.

Facilities: Some camping, outhouse. Pack in and pack out.

Features: This largest lake on Gambier Island is nestled in the hills and is surrounded by verdant green undisturbed forests. It is a registered recreation site by Recreation Sites and Trail BC and offers camping fishing and swimming as recreational activities
